The NPSS Student Paper Award seeks to recognize outstanding student poster or oral papers submitted to the 45th International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS 2018). The purpose of these awards is to encourage both outstanding student contributions and greater student participation as principal or sole authors of papers as well as to acknowledge the importance of student contributions to the fields embraced by the NPSS. The two best submissions will each receive a cash award of $500 and a certificate. The two runners-up will each receive a certificate only.
The Student Paper Awards will be announced during the IEEE Plasma Sciences Awards Banquet at ICOPS 2018 on Wednesday, June 27.
• Please note: the deadline for receipt of your advisor's letter is April 1, 2018.

The Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant, funded by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society, is awarded to support participation in the ICOPS 2018 Mini-course on "New Directions in Plasma Diagnostics for High Energy Density and Burning Plasmas" and to further encourage membership in NPSS. Each grant award will be for $600 which will cover the mini-course registration fee and partial support for hotel accommodations.
Eligibility is limited to outstanding members of NPSS who are either student members or unemployed members needing assistance in changing career direction.
Applicants will be judged on exceptional promise as a student in any of the fields of NPSS, or exceptional work in those fields by currently unemployed NPSS members with an expectation that attendance to the Mini-Course will result in an improved possibility of obtaining a job in an NPSS field.
To be considered for the 2018 Paul Phelps Continuing Education Grant, please email the conference chair at firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject line of "ICOPS 2018 Phelps Grant" by April 1.
